As a part of National Community College Month, Gadsden State Community College is hosting a symposium for the community, students, faculty and staff to “Make the Connection with Safety” from 9 to 10 A.M. April 18 at the Valley Street Campus Student Center.
The symposium is free and being sponsored by the Gadsden State Office of Safety & Security in conjunction with the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.
The April 18 symposium will feature information on Project Lifesaver—a program of specialized operations designed to locate missing individuals who have such conditions as Alzheimer’s disease, Down syndrome and autism. Project Lifesaver provides these individuals, who are likely to wander and get lost, with special wristbands containing identification information. About 80,000 individuals in Alabama have Alzheimer’s Disease, but fewer than 1,000 of those individuals have received Project Lifesaver bracelets.
