After a year-long, comprehensive renovation project, the City of Gadsden will officially reopen Moragne Park on March 16, 2019. In celebration of the long-awaited reopening of one of the City’s flagship parks, the City of Gadsden’s Parks and Recreation Department will host a day-long series of events to showcase many of the renovated park’s features. City officials will open the park with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 10 a.m.
The Gadsden Horseshoe Association will host a tournament starting at 9:30 a.m., followed by a sand volleyball tournament at 10:30, next the Gadsden Rugby Club’s cornhole tournament starts at 1 p.m., with Characters Entertainment performances at 3 and 3:30, last, an outdoor movie ‘Smallfoot’ will start just after sunset.
Moragne Park has a long history for Gadsden residents as a park used by all of those across the city. The long needed renovations touch all parts of the park and will ensure that memories are made in the park for years to come. The renovations include a new universally accessible playground, dual zip lines, walking track, three sand volleyball courts & green space with competition grade lighting, multiple picnic pavilions, and overall park renovations.
Please join the City of Gadsden all day long on March 16 to celebrate Morgane Park and experience all of the new amenities of this favorite park along the Coosa Riverfront.
