Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin and District Attorney Jimmy Harp will be hosting the State of Alabama Office of Prosecution Services (OPS) in conducting legal update training sessions on Alabama Senate Bill (SB) 286, commonly referred to as the "gun bill of 2013". Once passed by the Legislature and signed by the Governor, SB 286 became Act 2013-283. The Act legislated certain changes regarding firearms laws to the Code of Alabama 1975. The Act becomes law effective August 1, 2013.
The training from OPS is designed to provide an understanding for law enforcement officers, education administrators and business owners concerning the changes to Alabama's firearms laws, as well as answer questions they may have. Two (2) hours of Albama Peace Officer's Standards and Training Commission (APOST) continuing education units (CEUs) are available for participants.
