The GSO kicks off the 2017-2018 season with the annual Fall Family Concert, a program of light classical and popular music for symphony-goers of all ages.
This event is free to service people and veterans with ID
The 2017 Family Concert is titled “A Salute to Our Veterans,” and includes great patriotic music to honor the members of the armed forces who have served our country. The featured composer for the program is Aaron Copland, the “Dean” of American composers, and will include Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man,” “Letter from Home,” and “Lincoln Portrait” for narrator and orchestra. Also included on the program are Morton Gould’s “American Salute,” Richard Rodgers’ music from “Victory at Sea,” and our national march, John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
